Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I wrote a blog post, but wait no more. This time I am back with an Oil Cleanser product review…Yayy! I have a very oily acne-prone skin which is mainly due to my hormonal issue… and my make-up habits don’t help either. I wear light make-up to office, full coverage make-up on a night out and stage make-up for my performances. Hence, I need a make-up remover that will be able to remove from normal to waterproof heavy make-up. I needed an all-rounder! The one phrase which is stuck by me is “DOUBLE CLEANSE” …

My face cleansing routine is pretty generic. Firstly, I go in with an Oil Cleanser to melt down all my make-up or sunscreen. Secondly, I go in with a normal face wash + scrub. Tadaaa…that’s all! For my first step in cleansing I have been using Clarins Total Cleansing Oil for the past few months. Hence, I am here to share my thoughts on Clarins Total Cleansing Oil;

Product Price Range

The product retails at about $38 (RM135) for 150ml on Clarins official website. In some countries, Clarins products are also available at Sephora. For me, it’s worth the price!

How to Use Clarins Total Cleansing Oil

To use the product simply pump 2-3 pumps of oil and apply it to the face and neck, and then massage in delicately with circular motions to lift off make-up and impurities. Next, add just a few drops of water to emulsify it into a creamy milky lotion and rinse off. You could start with 1 pump and then add-on if required. The pump is a huge plus point as you can have more control over the product and it’s more hygienic.

My thoughts on Clarins Total Cleansing Oil

As you can see, I am almost finished with the Clarins Total Cleansing Oil. Having used different brands of oil cleansers which retails at a fraction of Clarins Total Cleansing Oil, I was reluctant to purchase it at this price point. But then I was also very curious for all the new unique ingredients it came with, so I had to try!

As mentioned, the make-up I wear can be very light (sunscreen + concealer) to full blown stage make-up for my performances. I hope I am emphasizing on how difficult can it be to remove stage make-up which is 3-4 layers of thick pancake foundation and waterproof liner and mascara. Hence, previously I would purchase two oil cleanser, one for normal use and the other for my full coverage stubborn waterproof makeup. It usually got the job done excellently BUT it would leave my skin stripped-off of all the moisture. The one where you get the squeaky sound as you run your finger across your face. And I always ended up with mild breakout. Since I have already been using some of Clarins other products, I thought it’s about time to try the oil cleanser.

The product has mild fragrance, so calming and spa like. As it is a rinse off product, I do not have issue with mild fragrance. The oil is so light weight making it perfect for all skin type especially oily skin people. Massage gently on skin to see all the make-up melting off your skin from waterproof mascara, eyeliner to stubborn liquid lip color. Oh, the ingredients in the oil did not irritate my eyes either. Amazing!

The pump of the bottle can be turned to lock and unlock the bottle knob making it perfect for travelling. Rest assured the product is not going to spill. You also have full control over the pump, you could pump the amount of product desired. Once you feel the make-up has been lifted off just add a few drops water to emulsify it and rinse off. You are doneee!

To top it off, the oil cleanser does not leave any oily residue on your skin. The skin feels clean yet soft and hydrated! For a person with super oily skin, I was amazed with the after feeling of the product. Also, the bottle is see-through so you can always know the amount of product you are left with. You will know when to restock, haha.

Would I recommend Clarins Total Cleansing Oil ?

In a Nutshell, 150ml may not seem like a lot of product but from my experience and the amount of product you actually need for each use it truly is going to last you a long time. I am really impressed with this Total Cleansing Oil as it can remove all my makeup without needing to roughly rub my eye and lips area. It is travel friendly! Can be your one step cleanser only in time of emergency! Suitable for oily skin! Ingredient does not irritates my eyes! Removes stubborn make-up! Certainly, it has outperformed my other oil cleanser. It left my skin more soft, hydrated and less stripped…oh and no breakouts too! My skin definitely loved it.

I have honestly found a new favourite and will definitely be buying this again. Have you tried this Clarins Total Cleansing Oil? Do you use cleansing oils? Which one is your favourite? And do you use any Clarins products? Also, don’t forget to check out my other blogpost on my page!
